Beautiful couple shoot at Swiss Gardens, Bedfordshire
Julia and Richard first contacted me back in January about their Wedding. As with any new enquiry, the first question was obviously am I free but second is to ask for the venue location. When they said it was Swiss Gardens at Shuttleworth, I did the usual google search and then a little happy dance – what a fabulous, unique and beautiful looking place and it most certainly didn’t disappoint in reality.
We combined their pre-wedding shoot with a venue visit and oh man, I am now so excited for their wedding in a few weeks. There are ponds, bridges, rock gardens, the gorgeous broadwalk, a tiny cottage, a chapel, a grotto and fernery to die for and that’s not even the whole list. Add this to the fact that they are the sweetest couple, you can probably see why I am a very happy, excited photographer.
It is completely normal to feel awkward at the start of an engagement shoot and in fact, one of the first things I say to couples is ‘go with it’. I love the images when they both gave in to the awkward; when they giggled, closed their eyes, Julia hid in Richards neck; they were absolutely the most endearing shots. What followed these interactions were the moments where their eyes met and they were completely themselves and that’s when I love to capture the shot; those looks, into each others eyes, as if I’m not there. In no time at all, they were like pros. I could have stayed for hours. Let’s also not gloss over the fact that Julia wore glittery Dr Martens. Yes! Or that there is a resident peacock photobomber.
It’s only a few weeks til their wedding but for now I will leave you with some of my favourites from their pre wedding shoot. Julia and Richard, I can’t wait to venture out of Kent to your wonderful wedding venue again x
