I first met Wendy & Leigh at The Bull Hotel Wedding open day last year. When I discovered they had been together for 22 years I just knew that their wedding day was going to be so special and I wasn’t disappointed. 

They had stunning flowers with soft purple and blue tones, the most touching details with really strong meaning to them, some of the best entrance and exit music choices and bubbles. I don’t mean Prosecco bubbles but actual bubbles! And how funny it was trying to stop their grown up congregation from blowing all their bubbles before we had them lined up for their exit.

They met back in 1991 playing hockey but didn’t get engaged until 2016, at one minute after midnight on February 29th actually. They decorated the venue themselves and used bluebells as their colour theme as Leigh’s nickname from her late dad was Bluebell, due to her stunning light blue eyes. They got ready for their ceremony together which was a first for me to photograph. What a wonderful honour it was to watch some truly touching moments between them as they got ready to marry one another. There were a few lump in the throat moments, particularly watching as Leigh read the card written for them by their son. It really was so beautiful as was his speech later in the day.
