The Old Kent Barn is an exceptional barn wedding venue tucked away in the Kent countryside. Relaxed, welcoming and full of character with a reputation for excellence. You really will be in the most experienced of hands.
As a Kent wedding photographer, I love photographing weddings here. It’s a venue full of photo opportunities but also so well organised and run that it guarantees a relaxed couple and therefore better photographs as a result.

The Old Kent Barn – A Relaxed Barn Wedding Venue in Kent
What I love most about The Old Kent Barn is that it manages to be both rustic and sophisticated at the same time. It is perfect for couples that want to marry somewhere that feels secluded and tucked away. It is such a professionally run venue yet still feels warm and personal.
The Old Kent Barn has accommodation on site, separate spaces for getting ready, indoor and outdoor ceremony space options, a dedicated wedding breakfast barn and gorgeous grounds for enjoying that all important time with your guests.

What It’s Like Getting Married at The Old Kent Barn
Weddings at The Old Kent Barn tend to flow really beautifully. The layout means your ceremony, drinks, dinner and evening party all feel connected, but each part still has its own atmosphere.
Every part of your day has been planned and considered. From labelling your belongings in the getting ready room so they are taken to the right suite for the evening, to having two coordinators, one for each of you in the morning, the attention to detail is amazing.
There’s no awkward shuffling around or long gaps where guests don’t know what’s happening. Everything feels easy and slick – which honestly makes such a difference to how the day feels. Outside the barn the grounds are stunningly landscaped and a beautiful space to while away the hours between ceremony and dinner.
The food is also absolutely gorgeous too. And because every part of the day has its own dedicated space there is no waiting for room turnarounds or having to watch a DJ or Band set up during speeches. They really have thought of everything.
Nothing feels staged. Couples can just be together, and that’s when the best photos always happen.

Accommodation & Getting Ready
One of the nicest parts of The Old Kent Barn is how calm the mornings are.
Getting ready here feels unhurried – no one’s rushing around. There is plenty of space and time to actually enjoy the build-up.
This makes such a difference to the story of your day. The nerves feel softer, the laughs come easier, and the photos from this part always feel really genuine and full of anticipation.

My Experience Photographing Weddings at The Old Kent Barn
I’ve photographed quite a few weddings at The Old Kent Barn now, and it’s consistently one of my favourite Kent venues to work at. A well run venue makes my job easier as I get to completely concentrate on capturing those natural moments. I am able to trust exactly what is coming next and when.
The venue is by no means small but everywhere is close by. This means that I can capture both of you getting ready, guests arrival and details all without losing time moving between place to place.
Both the inside and outside wedding ceremony options are beautiful and the gardens for your drinks reception are too. I love the new flower beds with soft, textured planting and the seating. The lavender lined path, the gardens, the pond and the drive are perfect for portraits. When that golden hour hits, venue entrance gives amazing view across the field with the sun setting behind giving you beautiful warm glow that I love.
It’s also one of those venues where even in bad weather, everything still looks lovely. Indoors is just as beautiful as outdoors and spcious, which is a huge relief for couples (and photographers!).

Why You’ll Love The Old Kent Barn
From what my couples tell me, they love The Old Kent Barn because:
- It feels friendly and relaxed, not intimidating
- Guests feel comfortable and well looked after
- The day doesn’t feel rushed or overly structured
- It’s beautiful without trying too hard
It’s ideal for couples who don’t want their wedding to feel like a photoshoot or a production – but still want something really special, meaningful and full of atmosphere.
If you’re planning your wedding here and want photography that feels natural, friendly and completely you, I’d absolutely love to be part of it.
