For a wedding that feels personal, relaxed, and full of riverside charm, then The Harty Estate (formerly The Ferry House) is a hidden gem. I’m thrilled to now be a Gold-Recommended supplier here, which means I get to photograph love stories in this beautiful spot more often and I’ll never get tired of it.

Why I love shooting at The Harty Estate

I remember the first time I drove to The Harty Estate wedding venue. The road to get there is long and the closer you get to it the more private and tucked away it feels. The Harty Estate has a calm, welcoming energy which is relaxed and tranquil, exactly as it should be for the kind of wedding day I love capturing.

Set next to the Swale estuary and surrounded by farmland and meadows this 16th century waterside barn wedding venue in Kent is as secluded as it is stunning. With the addition of the new Spring Barn it boasts 3 ceremony area choices. It has exclusive use and so much accommodation too. It really is luxurious yet full of charm.

From the beautiful photo opportunities to the amazing locally sourced food, the team of coordinators to the many package options for your day; working here means that every wedding is completely unique but I know that they’ll all be equally gorgeous and joy-filled.

The Harty Estate manages to feel both sophisticated but also completely relaxed. It’s warm interiors, the wooden beams and the cosy nooks are perfect for quiet moments. It feels comfortable, which for anyone who worries about feeling awkward in front of the camera is perfect. Not pretentious or forced, just an easy laid back atmosphere.

Perfect for natural, relaxed wedding photos

As a wedding photographer that loves natural light, I really look forward to weddings at The Harty Estate.

The preparation rooms offer a lovely space for you to get ready in. Good light and plenty of mirrors with a tucked away nook perfect for hanging and changing into your dress.

The outdoor ceremony space in the gazebo over looks the estuary. What a back drop to your ‘I do’s. But the hop barn offers a different feel. It is cosy and rustic but with soft light coming in from the windows.

The riverside backdrop is stunning at any time of day and any weather conditions. Whether it’s a beautiful sunny summers day or a blustery autumn one, the view is gorgeous.

The gardens and terrace areas offer fabulous candid photo moments during your drinks reception, from laughing with friends to quiet couple portraits. But my favourite spot is the short stroll down to the estuary. The light here at golden hour is breathtaking and definitely one not to be missed.
