Sammy & Andrew married at The Harty Estate in Kent, and it was one of the most emotional and touching wedding days I have ever photographed as a Kent wedding photographer.
They had been together for ten years and had faced many challenges along the way. But for them, their wedding day wasn’t just about becoming legally married. It was a celebration of their journey together, their love, and the beautiful family they had created with their daughter Poppy.
A personal and emotional ceremony at Harty Estate
Andrew embraced his Scottish heritage and wore a traditional kilt, while they chose a celebrant-led ceremony which made the whole day feel incredibly personal and meaningful.
The ceremony was filled with heartfelt words, personal stories and so much emotion. It was the kind of ceremony that reminded everyone present exactly why they were there; to celebrate the love, commitment and family that Sammy and Andrew had built together. There really wasn’t a dry eye in the house.
A colourful and joyful wedding day full of personality
Their styling and flowers were bold, bright and full of personality, and I loved the pop of pink from Sammy’s bridesmaids’ dresses.
Every detail felt like it reflected them as a couple — joyful, colourful and full of life. From the flowers to the outfits, nothing felt overdone or like it was chosen just because it was expected. It felt completely them.
Their gorgeous daughter Poppy threatened to steal the show but honestly, that accolade may have gone to Andrew’s emotions.
From the ceremony through to the speeches, he couldn’t keep the tears at bay, and it was one of the most beautiful things to witness and capture.
Golden hour wedding portraits at Harty Estate
Formerly known as The Ferry House, The Harty Estate provided such a beautiful backdrop for their wedding photography. Its a gorgeous countryside setting and has amazing views across the estuary. As the evening light came in, we ventured down towards the water for their couple portraits.
It was actually one of the windiest days I have ever photographed, which definitely made things interesting. But I loved the windswept drama it created.
The movement of the dress, the atmosphere and the emotion of the day all came together to create portraits that felt completely like Sammy and Andrew — natural, relaxed and full of feeling.
