Do you only shoot weddings?

Pretty much, yes. Out of peak season I occasionally take on family portraits for my previous couples. I also love helping other photographers who are starting out in Wedding Photography but photographing weddings is the BEST job in the world in my opinion.

Is this your only job?

Yes, wedding photography is my full time job (I still have to pinch myself when I say that!). I only take on a limited number of wedding bookings each year so I can provide the outstanding level of service you expect on the biggest day of your life.

Do you do engagement shoots?

Yes, I love doing them. You may call them a couple shoot or a pre-wedding shoot but basically, think of them as a fun, relaxed practice session for the big day. If you are slightly nervous or uncomfortable about having your photographs taken then they are perfect for you. You get to see how I work and how I get great pictures of you just by asking you to engage with each other in cute, simple ways. You will realise that actually being in front of my camera isn’t half as scary as you thought.

Why should we choose you as our wedding photographer?

You should choose me if I FEEL like the right one for you. Yes, you should love the look of my work; you should be able to imagine yourselves in my images, with genuine smiles and laughing together, looking relaxed. You should love the warm tones of my editing style. But it’s just as important that when you read the words on my site and on my social media that I seem like the type of person you’d like to have capturing those memories.

I will be as invested in your final gallery as you will be but my priority is always for you to be as relaxed as possible, as THAT is when the magic happens. That is when I capture all those genuine and authentic emotions.

How would you describe your style?

Warm, genuine and relaxed. I would say I have a documentary style to my work but I am not a true documentary photographer. True documentary means no instruction, no posing, literally shooting as the day unfolds but what I have found is that my couples, particularly during their portraits, feel more comfortable being given subtle direction. I use little prompts and ask you to do things that make you forget you are being photographed and mean I can get the gorgeous, natural interactions between you.

How many weddings do you shoot in a year?

I limit the number of wedding bookings I take to around 30. I want my couples to receive the same level of service that they would expect for the biggest day of their life and would hate to spread myself too thinly. I also value the time I spend with my family. They are what make me tick and if I am happy, relaxed and fulfilled, I will do the best job for you.

Do you visit the venue before our wedding?

Not always. I actually don’t feel the need to do this. I am confident that I have the skill and equipment to shoot a wedding anywhere, otherwise I wouldn’t take on that responsibility.

Also some of the wedding bookings I take are a number of hours away from home and quite honestly, it would be impractical and costly to visit for a quick look around every single one. I will arrive early and do a recce and we will be good to go.

Can we meet you before the wedding?

Absolutely. If distance is an issue then a ‘Google meet’ can be just as effective in giving you that feeling of familiarity with me, whether that be in the early stages of your planning or much closer to your day. But when it is possible, face to face is always lovely. I like nothing more than meeting in a cosy coffee shop and chatting about weddings.

Should we have a second shooter?

If you both want pictures of you getting ready then a second is a great addition as I can only be in one place at a time. With a second you get a greater number of final images and the important bits told from two different angles. It’s a great value addition particularly for larger weddings.

How long will it take to get our gallery?

I will be itching to get started on your images so I try and keep delivery time to a minimum. I quote 4-6 weeks but it is usually 3-4. It can be longer in my busiest times.

Can we have group shots?

Yes of course you can. I have yet to shoot a wedding where I haven’t been given a group list. The only thing I really advise is not to have too many, between 5 and 7 is a great number. They can be more time consuming than you’d think and your guests will not thank you for asking them to hang around for any longer than they have to. Let’s face it, they’d rather be enjoying the drinks reception, and so would you.

What is an online gallery?

The beautiful online gallery will enable you to see the whole story of your wedding day. You can download your images in high resolution for printing and also lower resolution for sharing with friends on social media. It is password protected to keep it safe but you can pass on access to family and friends so they can enjoy your images too.

How many images will we receive?

I will only select the best images from your wedding and individually edit each one to my style. I don’t limit the number of images I give you, if they meet my standard then you will receive them. Typically, an 8 hour wedding gallery will contain around 500 images. I never give out RAW files.

Do you supply albums?

Yes. I can supply stunning leather or heritage cotton Wedding Albums. These are produced by a UK company, hand bound and made with high quality fine art paper. Prices start at around £400 for 10×10 square album.

What happens if you are sick on the wedding day?

I want to start by saying that I WILL be at your wedding unless something super serious happens. We have a contract and that isn’t something that I take lightly. So a cold, sore throat or minor ailment will NOT be keeping me away. An occurrence so serious is RARE!

If I am physically unable to photograph your wedding I will make every effort to provide you with a photographer of a similar style, ability and professional standing as me. They would photograph the wedding and where possible I would continue the service from there, editing your images and providing you with a gallery that looks and feels just like one I had photographed. We call this associate shooting.

Believing in community over competition is never more important than in rare scenarios like this. Networking and having amazingly talented friends and colleagues means that we are all prepared to help each other out when it’s needed.

And I know it to be a back up plan that works because I have been unfortunate enough to experience this happen to me twice in my eight years; once because of a very sudden loss in my immediate family and another when I herniated a disc in my back and was unable to move. Amazing photographers worked with my couples for me. I have also returned the role and supported other photographers when they were too poorly to photograph a wedding. It works.

My reputation and my business relies on me looking after you, even in the rare event that something like this happens. Once you’ve booked, you are one of MY couples and I’ll be as invested in your gallery as you are. I’ll have your back.

Do you like dogs?

Yes, yes, yes!

Do you work with videographers?

Absolutely, I actually work really well with videographers. Because my style is relaxed and I love getting you to engage and interact with each other, they are often able to capture what they like at the same time rather than us having to ‘take turns’ with you. I have worked with some amazing videographers and after you book, I will send you over a complete suppliers list with my favourites on there for you to look at.

Choosing your videographer should be the same as choosing your photographer. Love the look of their work but also be happy to hang out with them for the day.

Do you need a deposit?

Yes, my booking fee is £500. The booking process is simple. Once you confirm you would like to book, I will send you a short list of details I need to complete our contract.

The contract is emailed to you and is signed electronically so no faffing with post offices or licking yucky envelopes. Don’t worry, I use an automated invoicing system which will remind you when this is and you can access your portal which contains all your documents at any time.

Your date will only be secure and exclusively reserved for you when I have both your booking fee and signed contract.

The final balance is due 4 weeks before the wedding.

Oh my goodness! We are so in love with our pictures. You captured the whole day and our guests perfectly, they’re absolutely everything we wanted and more. We loved having you with us on our day so much, you fitted right in like one of our guests and all of our friends and family said the same. I’m so glad we found you, we’ll treasure these pictures forever!
